First Level Retraining and Gear

I decided that I'm not interested in playing my Ranger further. He has 3xp, so I know I can still retrain him to be something else. How do I deal with his gear? I spent 2 PP on a CLW wand, and 2 PP on a bow which will be completely useless to the new character. I have used a grand total of 0 charges from the wand, although I'm not necessarily opposed to keeping that.

The gold you've spent on non-consumable items (such as weapons, armor, etc.) may be refunded 100%, but your PP may not, unfortunately.

You could always retrain him to be some sort of other martial type that could make use of the bow, and create a new character with a new concept.

Ok, this leads to my next question...is the penalty for not being proficient with a weapon the same as the penalty for using a composite longbow that you're not strong enough for?

I thought EVERYTHING except PFS number could be changed before playing at second level? You should be able to refund the items for prestige as well (but not sell them for gold). If you have used consumables like wand charges, this wouldn't be possible, but since you haven't even the wand should be refundable.

No, they are not the same penalty. If you are not proficient in longbows, and too weak for the composite longbow you have, you will be taking both penalties when you try to use it.
