Regarding Flaming Sphere and Admixture.

Rules Questions

Hello everybody. I have a few questions regarding the spell Flaming Sphere.

As I understand it, as a flaming sphere is a non-instantaneous magical fire (with duration of 1 round/level), exposure to the flaming sphere can cause a creature to catch fire.

Now, any creature targeted with a flaming sphere can make a reflex save to negate (DC = 10 + 2 + ability modifier) or takes 3d6 of fire damage.

Supposing a creature fails the initial reflex save and takes the 3d6 fire damage, that creature should be at risk of catching fire. To avoid catching fire, the must make a DC = 15 reflex save or take another 1d6 of fire damage immediately. If they fail, they take 1d6 of fire damage per round until they succeed.

Supposing instead that a creature succeeds the initial reflex save and negates the 3d6 of fire damage. This creature should not be at immediate risk of catching fire.

Is what I have written so far correct?

Suppose a creature makes the initial save, but chooses not to leave the square occupied by the flaming sphere on his next action. My feeling is that this creature should now be at risk of catching fire, even if they have not taken the 3d6 fire damage from the flaming sphere. Is this so?

Suppose that on the casters next turn he uses his move action to move the flaming sphere to another square occupied by another creature. The sphere stops moving, and the creature in the new square must make the initial reflex save to negate or take 3d6 fire damage. The creature in the original square is not at risk of taking the 3d6 of fire damage as the flaming sphere can only deal 3d6 of fire damage to one creature per turn.

Can somebody clarify what happens in this situation to me?

Now, suppose that a wizard has specialised in Evocation and has taken the Admixture school powers. Suppose this wizard uses the Versatile Evocation ability to cast Flaming Sphere with the acid descriptor.

This should be completely acceptable. There is now no risk of catching fire as the spell no longer deals fire damage.

However, the environmental rules say that creatures adjacent to a large body of acid must make a DC = 13 fortitude save or take 1 point of constitution damage per round.

If a 5ft-diameter sphere of acid is considered a large body of acid is considered a large body of acid, then any creature occupying the same square as the 5ft-diameter sphere or in any of the 8 adjacent squares should be at risk of constitution damage. If a 5ft-diameter sphere is not considered a large body of acid, there should be no risk.

Is a 5ft-diameter sphere of acid considered a large body of acid?

My feeling is that it should not be considered a large body of acid. A large creature occupies 10ftx10ft. I would assume that a large body of acid must occupy at least this area.

Even Simpler.

Admixture may remove follow on effects to spells, if those effects are no longer appropriate. It cannot add effects to a spell.

So no, the admixture acid sphere does not do con damage to adjacent creatures.
