Is it safe to assume the other half is human? If so you've got your size (medium), and your ability score modifiers (human heritage floating bonus), or you can go the aasimar way and give 2 +2, but for balance sake, I think the human heritage one is a safer starting point. I'll be keeping track of this, since I like the idea. Also, look into celestial resistance, see if it fits the theme you're looking for.

In fact, what exactly do you picture, history, and visually when you think about Staterae? This will help us help you, and maybe give you a few ideas yourself.

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

they are half human
+2 to one ability score

When a paracletus tampers with babies still in the womb, sometimes there is a side effect. A staterae is born. A scourge to both parents, most staterae are killed on the spot, but some manage to survive. Through empathy or natal powers.......

ideas for the build of the race:
speed:30 ft Size: medium
type: outsider
Traits: darkvsion 60 ft
ststarae may use one of these spell like abilities each day: comprehend languages, detect magic, detect poison, read magic
staterae may create light on their bodies at-will

languages: either infernal or celestial, common, and if they have a high int score, they may learn any language exept for secret ones

WHat do you think so far? I really think pazio should implement neutral half human outsiders, also do you think i sould add axiomites and proteans?h

sorry, NAtural not natal

I would probably go with something like this:

Outsider (Native)
+2 Int, -2 Cha
Darkvision 60ft
Resist Cold 5
+2 racial bonus on saves vs poison
+2 racial to ac when an enemy is confirming a critical hit on them
+1 deflection bonus to ac

The Charisma penalty because aeons are just weird and incomprehensible to most everyone. The cold resistance on down is to represent the aeon resistances, and their void form, note the deflection is not an enhancement bonus and as such other deflection bonuses should stack. I gave no physical stat bonus to help offset the bonuses to ac, and resistances a bit.

I actually created a half protean for my home brew campaign, though in use, it is more like the half-fiend/celestial type templates than a "race" really.

Liberty's Edge

Thank you for the review, I think that the stats you suggested are the best possible, and I still think that the staterae should have magic abilities, maybe something to help them with cha, although they don't have much empathy, the paracletus ancestry should help them. maybe charm person?

I think this race should be balanced so each class works well with it.

I honestly did not expect anyone to respond to this, I would have thought that this was already done!

Liberty's Edge

by the way, they are not sociopaths, they are not in any way just a playable aeon, they have a human side too. (sometimes elfish, Gnomish, and halfling)

Liberty's Edge

This should be in the homebrew forum, not under advice. I've flagged it to be moved.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, thank you Im a little new to the forums

Its all good, different people look at different forums, so getting things where they're supposed to go is helpful.

Personally I'd probably go with the +2/+2/-2 for attributes like standard races, but beyond that it is kind of hard to pin anything down about eidolons. I'd want them to be unique, perhaps giving them some ability to play especially well with others, like a bonus teamwork feat and a point of natural armor, and then the standard native outsider things and see what I thought from there.

Liberty's Edge

Hmm what do you think about thier appearance?

Liberty's Edge

most Staterae are outsiders in a social sense, always being abandoned, and sometimes unwillingly modifying the peoples emotions. Closely monitored by the aeons, they know that the child never should have happened.

staterae often study arcane arts, wanting to utilize Monad in their magic.

do you think I'm trying to just make them half paracletus?

Never intended to imply that they should be sociopaths, but the aeon side is going to make them more than a little strange to almost everyone.

As far as a second +2, really could not think what makes the most sense, it is hard to nail down due to the varied nature of aeons, probably dex or con, my personal guess would be con.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks, +2 int or wis +2 con -2 cha

Aren't Aeons usually like dumb floating orbs or disembodied eyes?

Aeon-kin:
Appearance: These creatures appear in all ways identical to their progenitor race save for 1: their heads are big floating eyeballs wreathed in a halo of tentacles.

Stats:
+2 int, -2 cha
Though not entirely unable to empathize with others, the Aeon-kin's mixed alien heritage hurts them when it comes to relating to others.

Eyeball Face: -4 to diplomacy checks and +4 to intimidation checks when dealing with creatures from the prime material plane.

Giant Eyeball: +4 to all perception checks pertaining to eyesight.

Floating Eyeball: Aeon-kin are immune to the vorpal weapon quality or any ability that would decapitate them. This is because they have no neck. There is a hole on top of the Aeon-kin's torso where the neck should be. All food and drink are poured or dropped into this hole.

Vibrating Eye Speech: The Aeon-kin makes noises by vibrating its eyeball. This grants Aeon-kin an immunity to any effects that would silence them. However, any effect that paralyzes or completely immobilizes an Aeon-kin also silences him.

Minor envisioning: 5 times per day, the Aeon-kin may perfectly impart an image or short series of images directly into a willing creatures brain as long as they are within 30 feet.

Odd mind: Aeon-kin gain a +4 to will saves to against mind-effecting spells and abilities.

Halo of tentacles: Aeon kin possess two additional ring slots by placing the rings within it's halo of tentacles.

Liberty's Edge

that isnt exactly what aeons are.........

You are right. It is far better.

Liberty's Edge

I think that this would be a good build:

+4 cha -2 str -2 wis
lemme explain that. the staterae may not be very social, but people find them natural leaders. they are not very strong, and they are weak willed

they can cast prestidigitation 3 times a day to represent their minor abilities of the aeons

they get a +2 bonus against enchantment spells

They may not select any outsider sorcerer bloodlines that are not true neutral.

they have dark-vision 60ft and get +3 on fly checks

am i missing anything you think should be added. the ability score layout is going to stay the same, i think the cha bonus is appropriate
