An alchemist in the party today kept (accidentally) bombing the party. The way it was explained to me is that any time his bomb would miss it's target, I'd roll a d8 and the bomb would land in one of the 8 surrounding squares and deal splash damage from there.
So in Society play, PVP isn't allowed. How do I deal with accidental bombings (PVP)? Does the class really work like this?
Thanks.

Yep, that's how it works. The discovery that allows the alchemist to exclude squares from their blasts, Precise Bombs, doesn't apply on misses.
The solution: talk to the player. If the player is simply inexperienced, ask them to moderate their behavior and take better account of their allies' positioning. If the player fails to improve, and the GM feels that they are not acting in good faith, they should remove the alchemist from the table.

Okay, I appreciate the confirmation. I read the basic "bomb" description and didn't see mention of the random squares. For the record, our alchemist was outstanding and I think the most anyone took was 2 damage but... it got me thinking about the future.
Thanks again!

Happy to help. The Throw Splash Weapon rules should explain in detail what happens with missed bombs.
