Arcane Archer for Reign of Winter?

I just hit lvl 6 and started book 3 in Reign of Winter. I'm taking a look at Arcane Archer and the prospect of free fire elementally enhanced magic arrows seems pretty sexy in such a winter wonderland.

I'm also looking into putting a point in Wizard and focusing on the Transmutation school so I can cast Haste on a regular basis at 3rd lvl.

Anybody have any insight or personal experience running this prestige class?

As far as I know, the best feature of the arcane archer is imbue arrow with antimagic field.

So in order to best capitalise on it, you need 6th lvl wizard casting and at least two lvls on it. Going up to 4 lvls in the PrC is not bad either, do not take more though or you lose caster lvls. Instead, the Eldrich knight makes for a better arcane archer.

With one lvl in wizard (scryer subschool) you can qualify for EK because of the school SLA. Then take as many lvls as needed in order to qualify for Arcane archer (5 lvls are a good break out though). After 4 lvls in Arcane Archer, return to the EK and finish it.
