Reposition CMB Mechanics Question.

Liberty's Edge

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand Reposition fully and would like to make sure I'm getting it right here.

If I'm playing a character that is using a longspear and I use my standard move as a Reposition CMB against an enemy that is 10' away can I position him 5' out of my 10' reach so he has to walk back in and trigger another AoO?

Also does this work if an enemy is 5' from me and I use a Reposition CMB to move him 5' away (still within my reach) and then another 5' (out of my reach) as long as I beat his CMD by 5 or more?

I'm wondering if Reposition is useful enough to force an enemy away from me so he has to eat another AoO to get into melee again. Thanks.

You're the the wrong forum. You're best best is to delete your post (which you can do because you're still within the first hour) and post to the rules questions forums.

Liberty's Edge

Don't have an option to delete my original post so I've flagged it as being in the wrong forum so it can get moved to the appropriate one.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on Reposition and my questions in the original post. Thanks.

Liberty's Edge

*bump again* Expecting someone to have used Reposition and to know why it's useful. Otherwise I'd suspect they wouldn't have even added it as a CMB. Please fill me in and let me know how it works in regards to my questions in my original post. Thanks!

Well, you can move people into flanking positions, or positions that are at risk from spells from your party caster, or... It's not the best thing ever, but Repositioning has it's uses. The best, probably, is that you can force someone without sufficient reach to take a move action, and thus prevent iterative attacks.
