Low wealth campaign

Advice

Lantern Lodge

So the starting level is 6th. Build is stat array, so can't rely much on min-maxing. But we are being given extremely limited resources in terms of gold and items, like under 5000 gold. Any ideas for making an effective character?

What are the munchkin-size options for a low wealth, but still at least somewhat overpowered character build?

Scarab Sages

Wood Oracle. You can make your own armor and weapons, and wood weapons are easily enhanced via shillelagh that is still relevant at your level.

A good alternate would be a Martial Artist monk. Arrays favor MAD builds, and Exploit Weakness overcomes DR and helps accuracy.

caster types are less reliant on equipment then anyone else. they wont be able to throw wands, scrolls, etc left an right, but their spells are nearly the same with half the money for gear

Liberty's Edge

Full casters of any sort ala Wizard are always solid in this sort of situation. Ditto Alchemists and Inquisitors. A Druid's very nice if he's willing to spend most of his time Wild Shaped. Paladin's not too shabby either, though he'll regret the shortage of stat-boosters.

Lantern Lodge

Ended up settling for a human barbarian. Invulnerable Rager archetype with 22 starting Strength and a non-magical sword. Feats are Extra Rage, Power Attack, Toughness and Raging Vitality. Supposing the DM will throw a book at me, but oh well.

Grand Lodge

Wow.

The caster/martial power level difference will have a much bigger gap in this campaign.

Your DM can't really be mad at you for taking the weaker choice.
