So I'm looking to build a paladin that can survive a huge amount of damage and keep trucking via lay on hands keeping him alive. I'm looking for a simple great sword swinging paladin (so power attack and maybe furious focus), but mainly built around surviving without any healing support. Last time I played one the cleric basically had to stand behind me and drop healing every other round and I'd like to avoid that.
Race if preferably human (though after looking the tiefling self healing bonus seems like a massive boost)... assuming WBL and 20 point buy what is the best healing I can get by level 10? Thanks for the help!

Okay, so a tiefling (+10 from alternative class) with fey foundling, greater mercy, and Bracers of the merciful knight (to add +4 levels to effective LOH level).
So that would increase LoH healing to 8d6(5d6 from level, 2d6 from bracers, 1d6 from greater mercy) +31 ( 5 from charisma, 10 from class bonus, 16 from Fey foundling). Do those numbers add up right? With an effective paladin level of 14 from the bracers... that gives you (7 level + 5 charisma) LoH per day. That's a crapload of healing for not a terribly hard investment.

You may want to consider being a Hospitaler and/or taking a level or three in Life Oracle.
Either of those will get you a channel pool. You can use a Meditation Crystal to convert your small (probably 2d6 or 3d6) channels into Lay on Hands.
Life Oracle will also let you take the Life Link revelation which helps keep everyone else standing.

The tiefling bonus is the best. Kyton-Spawn and Rakshasa-Spawn are your best choices for this one. Maybe demon-spawn, maybe.
Warrior of the holy light will give you two more uses of lay on hands by level 10. P. good. BUT, admittedly, you lose access to the spell Hero's Defiance. Hero's defiance will use Lay on hands as an immediate action whenever you are reach 0 hit points (plus 1d6 I guess), which can be a real life saver (and can't be done with a wand). Heal mount is also pretty nice when you have a mount.
There are a ton of good spells for mount use, in fact. Mounts are really nice. Consider prehensile tail for swift action wand draw. Actually, do that either way, fiendish sorcery does nothing for you.
With two feats you can get eldritch heritage and get a familiar. This familiar can transfer a cure spell onto you for a bit of additional healing. Not enough healing to be worth two feats? Almost definitely not enough. Awful idea, sorry I suggested it.
Get yourself a mount instead of the magic sword bit. A good mount has a ton of hit points itself, and while it's not always applicable, you can really pump your livability simply by being two targets.

This is exactly how my paladin for PFS is built. She's a demon-spawn tiefling (+2 Str, +2 Cha, -2 Int) and currently level 5. When I get home, I'll copy and paste he stat block from HeroLab.
What I can remember is that she started with 16 Str and 18 Cha. Took Fey Foundling at level 1 and Greater Mercy at level 3. I think level 5 was Extra Lay on Hands, but I'm not 100% certain. I remember buying a Cha headband before a Str belt, and I always have 2 hero's defiance memorized, just to be safe.
Oh, and she's an Oath of Vengeance paladin that uses a nodachi (will eventually be keen, giggity), so she can convert those LoH into Smite Evil if she has to. As soon as she hits level 6 I'm going to get her Bracers of the Merciful Knight.

Where does the 5 points from Charisma come from?
8d6+26 looks correct for that combination. And with an effective 14th level, yes, it looks like 7+5=12 times per day.
96d6+312 hp of healing is nothing to sneeze at!
Especially when you take into account that it includes condition removal and its all done as a swift action. I've always said that Lay on Hands was one of the most under-valued class features in the game, certainly more so than the ubiquitous Smite.

Oath of Vengeance is definitely the way to go, especially with multiple Extra Lay on Hands feats. We're running a Tiefling Paladin similar to that with an Oracle dip in Wrath of the Righteous and he's beastly. As an OoV, a single Extra Lay on Hands feat grants two swift action heals or one bonus Smite - not a bad return for a one feat investment.

Taking the weapon divine bond was a mistake - you should have gotten a mount (min INT 6). The roleplay would have been absolutely priceless.
