Mixing cards together

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

So I am playing multiple characters with multiple people, each at differeing parts of "Perils of the Lost coast." When I'm ready to start "Burnt Offerings" I want to know if I have to take out all the cards fro mthat set if I want to play with new characters in "Perils o the lost coast"

and whne we're ready to do "The Skinsaw Murders" do we have to take out all the adventure 1 cards, or can I just mix them in?

what if, afterwards, I want to start a new game with people? do we have to take out all the adventure 1 and 2 things?

When you start an adventure deck, you mix those cards in with all the previous decks. So if you are on deck 2, you will be playing with the B and C cards, the deck 1 cards, and the deck 2 cards. If you go back to a previous adventure, you remove any cards from decks that come after. So for Perils, you only play with B and C cards. For Burnt Offerings, you play with B, C, and deck 1 cards, etc.

You are supposed to have cards from adventure decks in the pool of available cards if you aren't running a scenario of equal or greater level number. So yeah, you'd have to pull out deck 1 cards if you are playing Perils, because they aren't supposed to be in there until you start the first scenario of the adventure they came with.

If you’re playing an Adventure Path and you successfully complete an adventure, you’re ready to move on to the next one. Add all of the cards from the next adventure deck to the box and begin with the first scenario of the new adventure.

You are also supposed to disassemble the character decks when you switch groups so that each group has all the cards available to them.

If you want to start a new character, you may, but it’s important that you do not keep decks for characters you’re not actively playing; doing so would use up cards that you should be encountering during play. The base set is designed to have no more than 4 character decks built at one time; the Character Add-On Deck, available separately, expands the maximum number of concurrently built decks to 6. If you switch characters for some reason, it’s best to write down the cards in the previous character’s deck and return the cards to the box until you need to use it again.

Some people leave cards from subsequent adventures in when they go back and just replace them with an appropriate card if they pop up during play, but that requires paying attention to the deck number of every...single...card that gets encountered. That, to me, is a far bigger pain in the ass than removing them before setup...especially when you forget.
