I kind of get the impression that he is bringing a mixture of Legitimate anger towards non-mwangi mixing it with rising consepts of ideas of nation building (which so far have escaped Mwangi) and then throwing in Evil god king mummy child and stiring it up with elements of fascism to drive it all.
Though im not sure you can actually have fascism in a non industrial society :P But what Im getting at is that stuff the game generally perceived as Evil to drive forward legitimate anger towards invaders.
For the record however, the first little NPC book seemed to imply his followers are mostly neutral. Although i think some of that has been retconned now as he apparently no longer actually has clerics. Although i cannot remember where that was written.
