So I'm a complete stranger to this whole "Ancient Osirion has connections to the Dominion of the Black" kinda deal, with things like the Aucturn Enigma, the Last Theorem, and the countdown clocks all being unknown to me until recently. But now I'm trying to figure out as much as I can about this kind of stuff, because in anticipation of the Iron Gods Adventure Path, I want to run a sort of "prologue" game that somehow involves all those previous 3 items of interest (especially the countdown clocks) and connects them somehow with the Iron Gods adventure path, even if they're not in canon and even if we know next to nothing about the adventure path (well, I know next to nothing, anyway).
So twofold question: one, what materials can I read about this kind of stuff beyond the obvious (Distant Worlds and Ancient Empires)? Seems like with the new Osirion book and the People of the Sands there's been no mention of the Dominion at all, since it seems like Paizo wasn't a fan of the whole "ancient empire uplifted by cosmic terrors from between the stars" deal.
And two, and this sounds like it should belong in the Advice section, but how would YOU run a prologue campaign set in Osirion that connects to the Iron Gods (whatever they are), the countdown clocks, Dominion of the Black, etc. etc.? Mummy's Mask has little to no material on these themes at all, in line with Paizo's above-described behavior, so that wouldn't be much of an option.
And yes I'm aware there's not a lot of info released on the IG adventure path so far, but I'm flexible for modifying or removing elements (hopefully the former) from it to fit this prologue game of mine. So bring me your theories and ideas, no matter how mad and insane they are!

There was some mention of this stuff in Entombed with the Pharaohs, but it was pretty non-specific, IIRC.
It's probably going to be easier in the long run to just make stuff out of whole cloth, to suit your own purposes, and forge a connection between the tech of the Silver Mount with stuff found in an ancient (but newly discovered) tomb in Osirion. Bypassing various traps and weak construct creatures (strangely mechanical traps, like holes in the wall that emit a thunderstone like 'bang' and propel tiny pellets of metal into those triggering them), the find the sarcophagus like relic, guarded by a 'ghost.' (Faulty hologram that attempts to instruct / warn the intruders, but in an untranslatable gibberish, as it's sound functions are garbled, and when it touches someone, they get an electric shock, which isn't meant as an attack, but ends up effectively becoming one...)
When the relic is carried from the tomb, sunlight upon it's surface causes it to 'awaken' and launch into the sky and begin flying north, towards Numeria, sending out a signal as it does that causes other buried machines to similarly 'awaken'...
And so, the party gets their first taste of mechanical stuff, and a line in the sky (as it trails smoke) pointing straight towards Numeria (which might require a cartographer or mathematician or similar scholarly sage type to figure out, by orienting off of various landmarks and drawing a line north on a map, and discounting various points of interest en route in favor for the more obvious destination, the 'land of machines').
The machine itself might be a probe, the size and rough shape of a sarcophagus (but strangely light, for it's size, as if hollow) sent ahead by the people who inhabited the ship that later fell to (crash)land in Numeria. Damaged on arrival in Osirion, it was captured and brought to a Pharaoh who repaired it as best he could, and used the revelations of its making to forge brass soldiers for himself, that used the power of the probe to function (so, without the probe, they slowly lose power and stop functioning).
Inside the probe, there's an inert android, who they might meet again in Numeria...

The two Osirion modules "Entombed with the Pharaohs" and "The Pacstone Pyramid" mention the countdown clocks and the Aucturn Enigma. The details are left vague, but the basic gist is that in ancient times aliens visited Golarion and assisted four pharaohs with tech and strange magic. The countdown clock measures when they are due to return and also has something to do with the planet Aucturn.
The short story in the Legacy of Fire AP describes the Night Heralds cult who try to summon a Cthuluesque monster from outer space during a conjunction of the planet Aucturn.
The entire thing is left rather mysterious and unanswered though, which is part of its appeal.

Since February just shipped, I would guess months although the first Mummy's Mask AP will be out in March. Although I would expect anything Dominion related would be later in the AP.
