Human cursed into half-orc?

Homebrew and House Rules

Hello

I'm currently GM'ing a RotR campaign (halfway through skinsaw murders) where one of my players is really unsatisfied with his character. Now I know that there are many solutions to players not being happy with the characters but believe me when I already say that I have taken them all into consideration.

Anyway, his idea was that he'd make a half-orc rogue. Now he's already a human rogue so his idea was that he would be captured by some orc clan and turned into a half orc.

So yes, that's about it. I checked cursed items and noticed that changing race is amongst the example curses though I have yet to find any item in the books showcasing this curse, therefore I thought that I'd ask if any of you have any experience with these types of scenarios/items.

I am open to other suggestions on how to resolve the issue (it being that this player feels like he is underperforming in combat -and- social skills (which partly is because he spends most of his time checking facebook instead of thinking up strategies)), I just don't want the thread to derail into discussion about how to keep players entertained/happy and instead more focus on the curse and changing race stuff.

Thank you all in advance
-Chok

Kill him (hear me out) and have a druid reincarnate him. Let the 1d100 roll for the spell hapening behind your screen just "coincidentally" come up a 53-52.

Scarab Sages

If he's unhappy, let him retire his current character, and have the group recruit a replacement. He loses most of the knowledge gained so far, but at least gets a chance to remake his character the way he wants. Hopefully, he can learn from his experiences so far, and avoid the pitfalls that's made him disatisfied with his current build.

Do however, suggest that he consults the forums for advice on his build before he commits, to make sure he's not going to repeat the process further down the line.

If you want to keep him integrated in the adventure, perhaps he's from another adventuring group who has been following a similar set of clues, you could use this as a possibility to introduce some variety into the adventure as well.

The scenario you suggest seems fine! Just have the cursing ceremony happen and hand wave the mechanics. Make it cinematic.

You could use something like a reversed half-blood extraction, no curse effect and instantaneous.

This. Not everything requires a mechanic, especially for NPC plot-based activities.

This could actually work pretty well story wise, I'll consider it

Yeah, of course on of the strong-points of tabletop RPG is the fact that you can do pretty much whatever you want to. I do however enjoy trying to use the game mechanics to achieve my goals, it's more of a challenge that way, and more fun.

Thank you for the advice!
