Combat with bigger enemies

Advice

Does anybody flavor combat with larger enemies (huge and bigger, let's say) in a different way than with smaller enemies? What are some tricks you have? I have some of my own, but if anybody else has some, I'd love some suggestions.

Thanks! :)

I played in one game in which the GM required us to climb or fly to a Colossal-size monster's vulnerable areas before we could attack it.

I play in a Serpent skull campaign where the starting island had a 'shipwrecker crab', a 5x5 monster that we met when we still were level 2. Despite our heroic nature even we realised that this creature was most likely more then we could handle and we took off back into the jungle and luckily it did not follow.
Recently we were surprised by a Triceratops (random encounter) that we did kill, but had a reach off '15, which did not combine well with my charge (from my point of view and I used a reach weapon).
The reach of this one is particulary troublesome and she hit pretty hard.
In retrospect we were lucky that I charged her, because she would have charged us if I hadn't beat her to it and she has trample. But that was a lucky shot as I did not know this monster and I did not think I was that lucky when I got the attack of opportunaty against me and missed the charge as well.
For some reason all planned encounters are going well for our party and the really dangerous situations are the random encounters!!
