Howdy, gents. After being told it was a priority by somebody here on the forums, I cooked up three truenamer archetypes that will be shipping with my truenamer rewrite, the Libram of the First Language, when the layout and balancing is complete. Here they are in all their option-multiplying glory!

The Orator - This archetype is much more social than a truenamer and behaves much like a politician. Given time, he can prepare speeches that allow him to Diplomacy or Bluff his way out of nearly anything. Further, his ability to connect with various races using their own language makes it easier for him to use his recitations when he speaks the tongues of his targets. The orator gains a unique inflection that allows him to affect creatures that share a race with the primary target within a certain radius.

The Truescribe - The truescribe is all about the written word rather than the spoken word. He gets to produce a number of recitation scrolls every morning for free. As he gains levels, he produces more and more low level scrolls every morning until he's looking at a pile of 14 scrolls at 20th level. If a scroll is not used, he cannot stockpile the next day - the hard "cap" is 14 at 20th level (and significantly less when leveling). Eventually, the truescribe becomes adept at shorthand and can teach others to use his scrolls, thus enabling them to recite using a spell completion item on a successful Use Magic Device Check.

The truescribe also breaks magic in a very slight way by making explosive runes give him a Reflex save to negate. There's no way a written trap is going to catch this guy off guard.

This one is a very unique take on truenaming, so I'm really thinking it will be the highlight of the product. I'll be playing one myself for a month or two after release to ensure it's balanced.

The Verminspeaker - This truenamer archetype gets bonuses to his recitations used on mindless creatures and gains a vermin animal companion as a druid of his level. In addition, this archetype gets a unique inflection that allows him to smack mindless creatures with mind-affecting abilities.

These all sound interesting, and I can't wait to see what you do with them! Any idea when the final product will be ready, and how much I should set aside for it?

Just wanted to say I'm really looking forward to this and so far everything is looking really awesome. Keep up the great work!

We're looking at $10 minimum and a page count of at least 60 at this point, with a likely stopping point around $12 or $13 with 70-75 pages. It seems every time I sit down to work on this product, its absolute wordcount decides to increase, sometimes precipitously. That makes the price a moving target, but only in one direction. A question for you: at what point would I scare you off with the sheer size of this monstrosity?

Want more truenamer content? Let me know what you think!

The original truenamer had the ability to speak the utterances of one of his lexicons in reverse. That is to say, one utterance could be fast healing or a damage over time effect depending on how he said it. I found this design aspect of the original truenamer to be fantastic and have made it the major design point of the first two codices my truenamer gets.

Given two of my four codices have this reversible feature, would you play a class variant that allowed you to pick and choose on a per-target basis? In other words, rather than give fast healing to everyone in a 10-foot radius, give fast healing to some people in a 10-foot radius and deal damage over time to the others. It's more potent than I'd want to see on a feat chain, but it could see life either as an archetype or as a prestige class.

Speaking of prestige classes, the following will be added.

Some sort of eldritch knight with recitations instead of magic

Speaker for the Universe - This cleric/truenamer mix gains the ability to add recitation effects from the Codex of Heart and Mind to his channeled energy. Those affected by the energy are affected by the recitation.

I'm always open to suggestions. My design schedule suggests time for 2 more archetypes or prestige classes.
