Can Ezren Draw 2 Cards From His Power In One Encounter

Basically, since during an encounter Ezren's power kicks in at the "Apply any effects that happen after the encounter" step, then if Ezren plays a spell for him combat and a spell to reduce damage (say Lightning Bolt and Arcane Armor) can he examine and draw twice or just once?

Arcane armor/mirror image had to be updated in the FAQ to even allow them to be played in the same step in which a combat spell had been used because otherwise they were violating the "2 of the same card/power can't be played in the same step" rule.

So by that same rule, I wouldn't think you'd be able to use his power twice in the same step.
