Yikes thoughts on the whole SPOILERS in Ivory Labarynth

Wrath of the Righteous

Again SPOILERS

I was just looking at the herald and the way to save him and I have to ask does ANYONE think they're players are going to achieve this? Laying aside the unlikelyhood of actually figuring it out to achieve it sounds like a mythic trial in its own right.

Although I do admit the idea of a ranger sticking his heart on an arrow and shooting it into his chest over and over as the cleric casts atonement is entertainihng I just can't see it being pulled off in combat, or outside of it either.

EDIT
AH reading through the GM I see our developers were thinking of Atonement with a standard action casting time that changes things a bit still seems to be harsh.

For me, they should have someone that explains how to proper save him by using his heart.
This could be that hafling. Since she saw it happened, she may well have hear Baphomet himself mocking the herald with his heart in the claws, saying "Your righteous heart is mine. Your very soul is mine to resharp as I desire. Now watch, beg and despair as I strip to you everything you are and ... ecc, ecc ecc".
Basically she could say "The heart. The Heart. The horned lord confined everything the herald was in the heart and tainted it. If only could be a way to give him back, maybe he could return to light without being destroyed (sure, they still have to fight him, but this would help).
This kind of information could also be given by other fonts, like communion spells after they know about it, visions or other Npcs

I hate false hope, and I sure as hell would try to find a way to save the herald if the usual method is unavailable.

As a DM, I'd always let clever players save the herald if they figure out a plausible way of doing so and succeed on their rolls.

Yeah I'd probably do something similar if I thought they came up with something good definately going to include something like "The normal atonement rituals shall not be required in this one case. Simply call whilst in the Labarynth and I shall extend my hand to those lost souls." to let them know its a 1 standard action cast not a 1 hour as that will probably get the players to use it a bit more in there.

I think that halfling is described as exactly the person who could give the PC's that information.
