Scaling feats, alternative weapon proficiencies, and other changes

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

there first issue of Gygax magazine there had an article on scaling feats like 2 weapon fighting and vital strike like power attack. so you would get the advanced and greater versions of those feats as you level up rather than taking them with a new feat. has anyone done this in a game?

I think that it would free up feats for later levels and could lead to more interesting combat choices. or it could be way over powered. thoughts

it makes sense that if you know how to use one type of weapon you should be able to use ones like it. like a mace and a morning star. or crossbows and repeating crossbows. I get that balance is important but I wonder if it would be fun to ignore balance in a few cases. thoughts.
