Divine Spells and activation rolls.

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm having trouble finding an activation roll system as an alternate for X/day spells. I heard Savage Worlds had a good one, particularly Deadlands had one that I'm interested in, but next to no material exists online that I've found.

So basically, I'm looking for a system that lets you roll to try to use your spells, makes it harder when you fail, and doesnt have an X/day mechanic. Anylinks or resources you guys can find would be super helpful.

Hmm...cant think of anything free. The dragon age RPG has a mana+rolls system, thought the consequences of failure are minor.

I'm currently playing a second edition warhammer roleplay game where you roll not to go insane each time you cast...

Verdant Wheel

some system out there has some mechanic by which each time you fail the same day, it gets cumulatively harder to cast that same day.

i can't remember it exactly but say you have to beat DC 10 + spell level using 1d20 + caster level + casting stat. each time you fail, your DC to cast that day rises by 1. since this isn't a 'skill' a '1' always fails. the DC resets after you sleep and pray again.
