How many mythic trials should players achieve during Demons Heresy, SPOILERS

Wrath of the Righteous

Again SPOILERS . . .

That said by my count there should be 4 trials over the course of this arc.

1) Defeat Svenarobeth.
2) Defeat Jaruunick and rescue Arueshalae.
3) Defeat Xanthir Vang.
4) Complete your trait releated task.

Combined with the 4 from earlier arcs this puts you at 8 or 5th tier but then in the concluding the adventure it starts talking about the last TWO tasks that can be completed with defeating another demon and recovering information counting for the second.

So by this stage are they meant to have 8 mythic trials completed or 9?

Scarab Sages

Defeating Jerribeth only counts as a trial if you don't have a trait related trial.

Yes but what is it talking about when it refers to the 2nd of the last 2 trials you can get involving defeating her, Xanthir AND retrieving the documents?

Actually in front of my books now, so I can answer this question better.

You have to complete 2 trials to go from 3rd to 4th tier. You have to complete 3 trials to go from 4th to 5th.

You're supposed to have eight completed, five of which happen in this book.

Three happened in the earlier arc. (Soltengrebbe, Staunton, and the mythic shadow)

On page 5 of Heresy are the 5 trials you need to do in this book

That's what I thought 1 personal, end boss, big beastie and rescue someone.

What's throwing me is the part on page 57 . . .

"The final two mythic trials the PC's can complete in "Demon's Heresy" are closely linked. Defeating" end boss "is one such trial. The second trial requires the PC's to disrupt" Team Evil "- this can be accomplished if the PC's defeat" end boss and chief minion "in addition recovering" something "from the" evil fortress ", but other combinations of accomplishments can suffice as you see fit."

So is that second trial the bonus trial for those without a WoTR trait or is it a 5th trial in this module since defeating the chief minion is already referred to as being worth a mythic trial if you don't have a trait?

1 Personal.

1 Dragon.

1 Arueshalae.

1 Worm that Walks.

1 Ending the Ivory Sanctum's work in the Worldwound, which requires removing both Jerribeth and Xanthir from power, along with trashing the place.

Jerribeth is a bonus trial for those that don't have a personal trial in this one.

Jerribeth is a bonus trial for those that don't have a personal trial in this one.

So while its only stated in the post-credits clip its not just defeating her but retrieving information AND beating Xanthir that counts for that bonus trial. Thanks.

No.

If you don't have someone with a campaign trait, beating Jerribeth is the bonus trial. Full stop.

The fifth trial the PCs MUST complete is ending the Ivory Sanctum. The fact that there's another trial in Xanthir is superfluous to the fact that Xanthir is running the Ivory Sanctum.

So there is 5 trials in this book putting them at 9 total? Remember they died 1 in the first book to become mythic in the first place. Then 3 in the second taking them to 3rd and now 4 or 5 more in this one.

Things like this is why I'm working through them alone first.

I see where you're confuzzled now.

Ascension is NOT a trial.

The first trial the mythic heroes undergo is Soltengrebbe, to become Mythic Tier 2.

It requires two trials to go Mythic Tier 3 (Staunton and the mythic shadow demon)

It requires two trials to go Mythic Tier 4, and then three to go Mythic Tier 5. (Depending on how book 3 plays out, you'll likely have PCs hitting Tier 4 at different times)

Aha thank you, okay I know where I stand now I'll change that from trial 1 to mythic ascension tier 1.
