Verdant Wheel

Studied Combat (Ex):
A 1st level investigator may, as a swift action, enter a hyper-cognititive trance whereby he studies the nature and tactics of attacks levied against him by his foes so as to gain better insight as to how to enact a suitable counter. He gains a +1 insight bonus to his AC and saving throws so long as he maintains his concentration. This bonus increases by +1 every four investigator levels he attains, to a maximum of +5 at 19th level.

He may maintain this trance round to round as a free action, but he must make concentration checks as if he was casting a spell in order to retain this defensive bonuses. The investigator uses his Intelligence modifier to make his concentration checks (see Concentration).

This ability may be used any number of times per day.

Studied Strike (Ex):
If the investigator has successfully maintained his concentration for at least 1 round, he may make a studied strike against any foe he has been aware of within 30 feet of him. One of his attacks this round may have one of the two following additional benefits. He may either perform a melee combat maneuver without fear of reprisal (without provoking an attack of opportunity), or, he may make a single attack inflict +1d6 precision damage for each +1 insight bonus he has from studied combat (so +5d6 damage at 19th level). Whether he chooses the combat maneuver or the precision damage, he may add his Intelligence modifier to the studied strike attack roll. Performing a studied strike immediately ends the studied combat trance.

This ability may be used any number of times per day.
