Help me Build a Druid that can tank...

Advice

So I want to build a guy similar to the character Kristoff from the Movie frozen, but would like him to be able to call out little snowmen elementals ala Summon monster. So i thought maybe a mouted druid on a moose of course.

15 point buy all the core and ultimate books. Human Druid on Mooseback with snowmen fighting with him :)

can you help?

If you're not going to be casting spells that require other people to save against them -- summoning spells fall into this category -- you don't need much wisdom. Take a wisdom of 14 at first level and boost it as needed with a Headband.

Use the points you saved and build yourself a fighter.

A single level of monk can be helpful for this build, too. A substantial bonus to saves, to AC, and to action economy via flurry of blows, against a loss of one spell-casting level you aren't using anyway.

I like the druid idea actually, but then i cant use armor and get flurry

maybe twould be better to go 2 ranger/3 druid?

I mean, "use the remaining stats and build yourself a fighter-type array." You know, high physical stats, low intelligence and charisma, possibly all the way to dump territory. (You're a druid, what do you need skill points for?)

With 20 points, you could get S 16, D 12, Co 15, I 7, W 14, Ch 10

Racial bonus goes into Strength if possible. Extra stat points go into Strength and/or Con when you level up.

Focus on spells that will not require saves, so it doesn't matter that your spell DC sucks.

Liberty's Edge

Here is what I would do:
Take this at 5th level http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/planar-wild-shape
Use a Shield and a Club at low levels. Do the Shillelagh Club thing for high damage and high AC when combined with a shield and medium/heavy armor.

The Planar Wild Shape will allow you to turn your self into a Fiendish animal. That will give you DR/good and thus excellent tanking potential versus most enemies. As you level make sure to get the Wild enhancement on your armor and shield. Barkskin, Wildshape natural armor, and the armor/shield bonus will also make sure that you keep up in the AC game.

Offensive wise just take Power attack and you should be fine.

Druid Tanks I'd think would use Dragonhide (or Dragonscale, whatever) Heavy Armor for the increased AC. There is Eastern Heavy Armor with +3 MDB, perhaps you should start there. Let's also not forget the Wild property, which allows the Armor and Enhancement Bonuses to apply while Shapeshifted.

Higher Dex is great, but building Natural Armor is just as great. I'd recommend a Tiefling or a Human.

Starting out with just Tiefling, put your Favored Class into HP to help with survivability; I'd also think about investing in the Toughness Feat. The next feat you should get is Armor of the Pit, granting you a +2 Natural Armor Bonus. (If you are Human, take the Racial Heritage [Tiefling] with your Bonus Feat if you decide to have one, and proceed to take the Armor of the Pit feat that way.)

From there, enhancing AC should be simple; a +5 from an Amulet, a +5 from a Ring, a +5 from Armor (in addition to the +7 Base you'd have), as well as a +5 from Shield (in addition to the +2 Base you'd have) would be approximately 39 AC, not including Dexterity or Dodge or other modifiers that you may have (bumping up to approximately 50, which is fairly difficult to hit, not including Fighting Defensively or Total Defense).

As far as building a Druid who can cast all of his spells, there becomes a problem; the MADness of it all.

Druids are all about Summons and Buffs and Crowd Control, because let's face it, their other spells are garbage. Damage Spells are weak and won't do you any favors, and I would not select spells that require Saving Throws as it would require you to invest in your Wisdom a lot in order for it to pay off, and building a Tank, you can't afford that.

From here, as Ortamay Quest smartly suggested, you won't need to have a high Wisdom to start, and buying a +6 Wisdom Headband with a 13 or 14 Wisdom will allow you your full spell list (with minimal bonus spells), meaning you would build your attributes like a Fighter would; starting off with a high Strength, decent Dexterity and Constitution, a fairly good Wisdom (13 or 14 is enough), and you're free to dump the rest.

Assuming 20 Point Buy, you can pull this base amount off:

Str 18, Dex 11, Con 14, Wis 13, Int 7, Cha 7

With Racial Modifiers for Tiefling, you get this:

Str 18, Dex 13, Con 14, Wis 13, Int 9, Cha 5

With a Human, you can pull this base amount off:

Str 18, Dex 13, Con 13, Wis 13, Int 7, Cha 7

And proceed to this:

Str 20, Dex 13, Con 13, Wis 13, Int 7, Cha 7

From here, you're going to want to focus on Natural Weapons, since by mid-level, you'll be Wildshaped most of the encounter so taking Weapon Focus (Claw) or Weapon Focus (Bite) could be helpful, depending on which form you take. Power Attack is obvious, as well as Natural Spell (casting spells while Shapeshifted is a requirement for a Druid Tank). Improved Natural Attack will also be important (the one that reduces the -5 Penalty for Secondary Natural Attacks to -2). Other Feats that increase AC may also be helpful, such as Dodge, Shield Focus (applies to your Wild Shield)

A silly (but possibly viable) idea would be to take the Crane Style line of Feats, since as you're Wildshaped, you'll have your Shield and Armor equipped, you'll still have a free hand (or paw, closest thing to a hand) to deflect a single melee weapon attack that would normally hit you.

A better idea may be to take the Spell Focus (Conjuration) feat and take Augment Summoning, since some of the best methods to tank is to create bodies (essentially cannon fodder) for the enemies to either be forced to destroy or attempt to maneuver by and fail; taking these 2 feats allows some of your Crowd Control spells to be slightly more effective, as well as increasing the overall strength of the creatures you summon.

I thought about it, and I think a nature Oracle with the Bonded Mount revelation is probably what you're looking for.
