Do alternate classes (Swashbuckler, Warpriest, etc) count as their parent classes for purposes of selecting feats?

If so, please cite references.

For example, would a 4th level warpriest count as a 4th level fighter for the purpose of selecting Weapon Specialization?

Thanks all!

Swashbuckler, Arcanist, and Brawler do for certain, and there are probably others. RAW is a bit ambiguous, but I think that since brawlers and swashbucklers say specifically that you count as both, you don't count. I'd allow it in any game, and I could very well be wrong.

Not to be difficult, but can you please cite where it says that?

Thanks :)

Do you mean alternate classes (ninja, samurai) or hybrid classes (swashbuckler, warpriest)?

I can site the stuff about Brawlers and Swashbucklers counting as fighters, but the rest is my assumption as to RAW. For what its worth
Brawler wrote:
At first level, a brawler counts her total brawler level as fighter levels and monk levels for the purpose of qualifying for feats.
Swashbuckler wrote:
Swashbuckler levels are considered fighter levels for the purpose of meeting combat feat prerequisites.

Sorry if this isn't what you're looking for.

Thank you ArmoredMonk13. I am disappointed that somehow Warpriests got excluded from this. :(

Avatar-1, I meant those classes which have Alternate Class "parents", such as how Swashbuckler's Alternate Classes are Fighter and Gunslinger.

Advanced Class Guide Playtest classes are considered "alternate classes" of both original classes per page 2 of the playtest document. So the same rules apply for these classes as apply for other alternate classes such as ninja and samurai. The new classes just happen to have two alternates per class.

Blaphers, is that the revised Advanced Class Guide Playtest document? I could've missed another update, but my copy doesn't say that anywhere on page 2.
