Hello all. I am a new player to the world of Pathfinder. One word: Awesome! I have a question I can't figure out by reading the instructions that came with the game. It says when you encounter something, armor, weapon, monster, etc, the player that "drew" it must encounter it, but then other players may encounter it. Does that mean that if I fail a check to acquire a card, that another player may attempt to acquire it at that time? If so do they have to be at the same location? Thank you for any help.

If there's only one check, then only the player who drew it can encounter the card.
Some banes have multiple checks separated by a Then. For those banes, as long as the current player attempts at least one check, then other can help.
Finally, some cards (only banes, again) will say in their text that other players will encounter it too (e.g. Tangletooth must be encountered by each player at the current location) These usually specify what happens if not all players manage to defeat it

If someone wants to take a check for you (considered the bane has multiple checks to start with) he has to be at the same location.
You can add to the rolls with powers and cards from other locations, if the cards/powers don´t say specifically at what location they work. There are cards/powers without restrictions (like blessings, etc.), cards/powers to help at other locations but not at yours (like bows, etc.) and cards/powers that work only at your location (like Lems, etc.).
I hope that helps.
