Weapon used as Improvised Weapon

Rules Questions

If you use a weapon as an improvised weapon.. does it still function as that weapon as far as other feats for it? What about the magic bonuses?

As I've been posting a few times around here, I'm building a net based fighter. I plan on having Net Adept tree, and plan on having a magical net. Only problem is the net deals no damage normally. But with Imp. Weapon, it could deal some.

I could kinda understand that feats couldn't be used with it, since your not using it 'properly' But magic?

It would not count as a weapon, because improvised weapons are its own category. Things that affect your damage / attacks in general would work though. For example, arcane strike also works on improvised weapons because it affects "attacks" instead of a weapon type.

Wrt. magic, it is a bit difficult. I would say no bonuses or powers work, but the break DCs and that it is "magic" at all would still be true. But I am not aware of a specific rule regarding that.
If you want to be sure, arcane strike would be my suggestion. Or just get unarmed strike and you can make it work easily this way :-)

Hmm.. I find it odd Traveler's any tool mentions that its masterwork abilities doesn't carry over.

Would using a net as a net and the same net as an improvised weapon count as two weapon fighting?

No. Twf really requires two nets then, and MW does not carry over to improvised weapons.
