Non-core Classes Common or Not?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

The Exchange

Reading up on the iconic Summoner and watching the slumber hex thread explode into hilarity it got me thinking about the non-core classes and if they are more rare and if there was anything that indicated how rare they might be? (In Golarion obviously) Ive ssen plenty of AP material with expanded content but that is about players coming up against unique things. Anyone have any insight?

Other than summoners being super rare, i can't think that i heard another class as being super rare or even rare in Golarion. Maybe the witch class in the more "civilized" parts like Taldor, Cheliax, Andoran, Mendev etc.

It's probably more a matter of *where* are they common. I would guess that with - say - Witches, you're more likely to find them in rural areas than urban ones.

It seems as if all of the classes, core and otherwise, vary in rarity across Golarion depending on where you look but the only 'common' classes are the NPC classes (Warrior, Expert, Commoner, Noble, etc.)

For what's where, I'd suggest looking at page 274-275 of Inner Sea World Guide, but it does specifically call out both paladins and summoners as being rare, while saying that the rogue is probably the most common non-NPC class.

Edit: It doesn't seem to imply in general that non-core classes are more or less common than core classes, though; cavalier orders are noted to be spread throughout the Inner Sea region, so it's probably more common sense than anything. Lots of fighters and rogues, but oracles and witches are probably relatively rare compared to clerics and wizards since the former represent special instances; wizards are known for having schools and clerics temples, but oracles are particularly blessed and cursed by mysterious divine forces and every witch means that some supernatural entity has a thumb in a pie somewhere as their patron, as opposed to more mundane (if that isn't an oxymoron) arcane scholastic endeavors.

Silver Crusade

I think the APG classes are a bit more rare then the Core classes.

You would probably find more witches in Irrissen, more summoners in Cheliax and Nex, more Cavaliers in Taldor and Last wall, More Alchemists in Thuvia, more Inquisitors in both Cheliax, and Mendev. I have to admit I have no idea where you would find more Oracles, they are probably pretty rare.

I would also guess you would find more Samurai and Ninja in Minkai in Tian Xia, and more Gunslingers in ALkenstar. I would guess you might fine more Magi in Kyonin, only because when you think of a figher mage, you often think of an elf.

Well those are my guesses. I Hope it helps.
