Rogue, knife specialist?

At first level knife specialist gimps your damage. For sneak attacks a knife specialist rogue wielding a d4 weapon and a regular rogue with a d6 weapon will average the same amount of damage. TWF is assumed. All non sneak attacks and sneak attacks without a dagger for the knife specialist will be less than the regular rogue due to the d4 sneak attack damage or that they are wielding a d4 weapon.

Am I right in guessing that as the knife specialist rogue levels up and gains additional d8 sneak attack damage with daggers this outweighs the less damage dealt by non sneak attacks and attack with a non dagger type weapon?

Yes, it's plural, any time you sneak attack with a listed weapon, all your sneak attack dice are d8s.

Ah so even the initial weapon damage is d8 as well as the additional sneak attack damage?

Nvm I mix read you post. So at 3rd level a dagger would be 1d4 + 2d8 correct?

No, it says "to roll sneak attack damage instead of d6s" right after the part I bolded.

I assume "sneak attack damage" refers only to the bonus dice and not to the entire attack, otherwise you could do strange things like make elemental weapon enchants roll d8s too (during SAs).

Edit: yes 1d4 +2d8 is correct.
