Frostbite and elemental spell

What happens when you use elemental spell(acid) to play around with frostbite because you know you're going into an undead heavy zone? Do you end up with non lethal acid damage instead? Thanks.

yes, the way the spell does damage is set by the spell not the elemental type. Though that is usually a guideline when the spell is designed. But if you change it through metamagic the effects do not change.
