Welcome to the Air-Gap War

There's been warnings about this being possible with laptop cameras for years. No reason why they couldn't nab the mic as well.

You realize that is as insane as transmitting your virus on a microwave carrier at the Astronaut outside the Space Station so you can hack his mic and download into an open US government server...

And the chances they won't have a pretty good firewall are near nil, so yeah.

We... I mean, hackers cannot do that. It's totally not anything you need to worry about, or, you know, take action to try to prevent in any way.

Also, yellowdingo, you really ought to see a doctor about that cough.

Normally he'd be eating vitamin-rich mangos to boost his immune system, but I- er, some slaa- er, some gang of drop bears and monstrous funnel-webs stole them all.

Yeah, they were stolen by drop bears and funnel-webs... and Morgan Fairchild... yeah, that's the ticket.

The only confirmed infection in that story was the "Air Gap" being breached by some idiot walking a virus with an infected thumb drive. Not exactly the most novel way to infect a computer.

You can't take everything the military does as a seal of fact. After all they were also the ones that bought into the military project that was the true story of "Men Who Stare At Goats".

Two infected computers talking over an air gap is not the same thing as an infected computer infecting a clean computer over an air gap.
