How have people had abundant amunition work with gunslingers? Obviously it will work on bullets, but what about the black powder that goes with it, etc?
The majority of time they use it with alchemical cartridges. Which is a nice all in one piece of ammunition.
I imagine most people consider black powder to be part of the ammunition for purposes of abundant ammunition though it might technically be incorrect, I tend to think that it falls within the RAI of the spell.

Hadn't really thought of it, but, in general, I would only use the spell for adamantine paper cartridges , or perhaps cold iron paper if fighting an army of demons or fey (much like Nefreet).
I'd say, since it affects the ammo pouch and not the gun! that the powder (which us in a horn, not in the pouch, right?), would not be affected.

It's basically a must-have. You'll still pay for the occasional shot if you're like me and tend to preload your weapons or if you need to shoot right now instead of waiting for a buddy to cast a spell or burning a standard to use a magic item, but most of the time you'll be shooting for "free". Which is good, as you'll actually be able to keep up somewhat gear wise during those early levels.
At high levels, I suspect it's less noticeable, as gold is more abundant.

It replicates ammunition. That means it replicates the projectile that will effectively fire to cause harm.
Having Abundant Ammunition replicate the 'cartridge' and not the powder would be like having it replicate the arrow shaft but not the field point\broadhead.
