Hi all. I'm new to the message boards and I apologize if I'm asking something that's been asked a million times before. I've used the Search feature pretty much endlessly on here and either I just suck at searching or I'm using the wrong terminology.
Anyway, the scenario: I'm playing a half-elf character with an Elven Curve Blade as his weapon (using the Ancestral Arms racial trait). Part of his backstory was that he crafted the weapon himself, and long about third level, with ranks added to Craft (weapons), I created a newer masterwork version (which took FOREVER).
My question is this though: as my current weapon is of Masterwork quality, do I have to craft a whole new Masterwork weapon in order to have it imbued with a +1 Magic Weapon enhancement? I know that on p.553 of the Core rulebook, I can so choose to add FURTHER enhancements down the line, but the rules are kinda hazy on converting a mundane weapon to a magic weapon.
As I understand it, if all I wanted to do (for now) was just to upgrade this to a +1 magic weapon, all I'd have to do is find someone capable and, pending roleplay, dump 2k gp on it (unless I burn a few feat slots for the appropriate crafting feats to enhance weapons myself). Is this correct?
Thanks everyone in advance for your input. :)
