Link Faxon to Stolen Fury, Graft a Demon Talon to PC

Wrath of the Righteous

One of my players has created a character Corwin, at his core concept he holds a long grudge to both demons and cultists, Hating nothing else more. He is known for being both sadistically cruel and merciless.

I was thinking it would be good character development to graft a Demon Talon to his arm; make him part what he hates most. The advantages of this item are not great, and more importantly can be ignored if the player character wants to continue with his greatsword.

I've been looking into the books and I think that Faxon is the best bet. I was thinking to have Faxon actually of been present at the ritual Corwin was at, and to recognize him, at which point Faxon will send the rest of the party out to talk to Corwin privately.

What I need is a battle plan and an idea of where I want the conversation to go. I don't mind rebuilding Faxon to be more suitable for this encounter. The PC is a Fighter with high will saves.

I want to present this as a choice to the character, rather than a win or lose situation, after the choice is made then Faxon will strike. Specifically I would like to tempt the player with power.

I would personally like to strap Corwin down to a table or otherwise make him unable to move for the procedure so that I can describe to him the process.

I would like ALL ideas and advice, be it story or gameplay. I am a new GM and god(s) know I need it.

I think you should talk to the player beforehand and see if they would be okay with this development. It's a big alteration and they way you're considering forcing it on the player/character might make them uncomfortable and unhappy.

Scarab Sages

Agreed with what Mal Luck says.

Also, recall that no plan survives contact with the enemy(PCs). If they're at the Tower, they likely know it's cultists and I don't imagine they'll leave a party member alone with Faxon. Honestly, while you know your players better than I do, 95% of all players I know won't give Faxon a chance to make the offer before introducing him to the sharp end of a blade.

I plan to have Irabeth ask them to do this mission subtly when they get handout no.1 to her.

I have also asked the player if they are ok with me slightly changing the characters apperance; his response was and I quote "I'm OK with anything a GM does to me"

I also think an important feature to this is if Corwin flat out refuses Faxons offers of power than I wont go through with this

Scarab Sages

*shrug*

Unless they hit the Tirabade residence first or you throw the rumor about the inn being a safepoint, they may hit the tower before finding Irabeth. Just keep that in mind.
