Looking for a monk build

Advice

Ok, any of my players for the upcoming Flamenwing Castle megadungeon game...out!

...

the need:
Ok, now that they're gone, I have a thought. A lot of threads say Vital Strike isn't worthless. I'm looking to make a tough encounter for when my PCs hit level 2 (they're level 1 now). I had a concept for a Kobold Monk. Please help with the build if you're so inclined.

And...

Da Rules::

- Heroic NPC array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8)
- Using Vital Strike so he can maximize those in-between rounds when getting set to flurry
- Must be kobold and has to involve monk level(s) in some way
- Optimized for DPR

All books would be ok and all feats and such, but no 3PP since I'm not allowing my PCs to use these sources. Thanks in advance for any and all help with this.

Nice and thematic could be a Kobold maneuver master utilizing trip, which is really effective against low lvl characters. You cannot really optimize a Kobold monk for DPR, especially with your array. Vital Strike can be useful though, no doubt about that, but it is better on medium size races.

Anyway check my suggestion:

Kobold Maneuver Master Qinggong 6

Alt racial traits: Day Rider, Dragonmaw (you have Barkskin for natural armor), Gliding Wings

Traits: Heavy Hitter, Reactionary

STR 6
DEX 17+1
CON 10
INT 13
WIS 14
CHA 8

1 Weapon Finesse, Improved Trip
2 Improved Dirty Trick
3 Combat Reflexes
5 Vicious Stomp, Power: Barkskin
6 Greater Trip

Damage per hit is not good (1d6-1, unless you give him an agile AoMF, the it becomes 1d6+4) but he trips and hits two times when they fail against your CMB. When full-attacking you can make an additional maneuver, which means that when you have to move you can trip and hit twice (much better than Vital Strike, because you leave them prone too), or if you don't need to move, trip and dirty trick (possibly blind or entagle them) and hit twice. And they fall prone too, droping their AC and attack bonus and provoking more AoOs. Not to mention the dirty trick combat maneuver debuffing. Don't forget to bite them when they are prone and have reduced AC too.

His AC is decent too, achieving 19 AC with Barkskin without magic items.

Damage per hit is not good (1d6-1, unless you give him an agile AoMF, then it becomes 1d6+5) but he trips and hits two times when they fail against your CMB. When full-attacking you can make an additional maneuver, which means that when you have to move you can trip and hit twice (much better than Vital Strike, because you leave them prone too), or if you don't need to move, trip and dirty trick (possibly blind or entagle them) and hit twice. EDIT: Fixed damage value with agile AoMF.

the problem with your request is this...

Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +6

that means that with 1-4 monk levels the npc would have to be at least 7th level. unless you're running a very high power campaign it would be hard to build something that level that won't be extremely challenging for a party of level 2s (and it won't really make any point about vital strike because of the CR gap- CR 6ish vs. APL 2...)
