I would say Stormweaver, and while I am only speaking for the empire of Xeilias here I expect many conglomerates will follow the same model, when we recruit a company such as yours to be a sponsored company we do not try to make you clones of us. We very much want you to keep your identity and we do what we can to assist you in your goals. We believe many companies with individual flavours and focii are a boon to the empire and we encourage it. We would fully expect many of our sponsored companies to wish to hold and run POI within the empire territories and we hope to facilitate that

Honestly, Golgotha is a perfect example of what we would look for in an FCC or Formal Chartered Company... I'm not speaking about their plans, but their over all organization.
They saw a lot of what they liked in Pax Gaming and took those things they liked, modified them to fit their organization, then credited us.
Our charter, our structure, our Terms of Alliance. They lifted and modified each one. Internally, we endearingly referred to them as "Pax-lite".
The reason they didn't come over under Aeternum is because they are self sustainable and some other things that Deacon can better explain.
So that is what we look for in an FCC. Someone who is similar enough in enough areas so as to plug right into our existing structure. That's not to say if there is a hiccup here are there we won't budge, because we do expect a certain level of mutual-flexibility.
On the other side of this coin, we've got The UnNamed Company.
They are a Sponsored Charter Company or SCC. We might have a few things in common with UNC. One of the most prevalent things is coin. It is THE motivating factor for both of us.
Their is not really a place for the UNC in our formal structure. No one in Pax was really interested in being in a Bandit company. Bluddwolf want a certain level of autonomy. He didn't want to be Pax Banditos, he wanted to be the UnNamed Company.
Enter the Terms of Alliance.
We lay down how we do things. We agree on areas are applicable. UNC doesn't really have an significant interest to warrant a modification or inclusion of a category, be it RP, Settlement Management etc. Some things simply won't apply to them because they are not going to be focused on that.
They bring what they can do for us to the table and we do the same for them. We bounce it back and forth a few times until all parties are happy with the out come. Once everyone is in agreeance, we put the modified and agreed upon Terms of Alliance on record and announce it to everyone.
That's why we are interested in groups that are similar to us, as well as those that are very different but can provide a small yet vital piece of the puzzle to us.

Posting this at the request of the Paxians (both Aeternum and Golgothan).
The name "Xeilias" that we are using for the Empire has a lot of meaning for us. Pagan put it like this "a war memorial is meaningless if you don't tell people what war you're memorializing." So, I'm going to share with you all the origin of the name "Xeilias".
As you all know, Pax Gaming has been around for a good long while, now. We were founded in 2001 as a PA for SWG. Our roots are in the sandbox genre of MMO's. Some of our players got so hooked on the sandbox that they couldn't find any fun in the theme park games. One in particular, Ktara Xeilias, was one of our biggest "we need to play more sandbox game" advocates.
She played SWG until the servers shut down. She dabbled in EVE (her significant other played EVE a lot more), and was let down everytime a new MMO released and *wasn't* a sandbox. She pointed us at The Repopulation last year and I think she would have really loved PfO.
Ktara's surname in most games was Xeilias.
Pathfinder Online is one of the best looking sandboxes on the "upcoming" list of MMO's. It's one where Pax Gaming is putting all of our cards on the table (or, at least, we'll put all the cards on the table closer to EE). We want to leave our make, in a big way, a positive way, in a Paxian way and naming our Alliance/Kingdom/Empire after her is our tribute to her memory.
We lost her to cancer this past summer. We weren't even aware she had it. We miss her dearly and for those of us who have been in Pax for more than a few years, we'll have a noticeable void in the membership because she won't be in PFO with us.

Sorry for your loss. I too lost a gaming friend once upon a time. Even if you never meet the person in real life, it still hurts. Glad to see you're naming the Empire/City in her honor. Very cool.

Yep, I lost a very close friend, who was part of my gaming life, both MMO and table top, and things just aren't the same. We do things in games in his memory also.
+1 to you all
