Raging Brutality at 12th?

Rules Questions

The feat Raging Brutality from Ultimate Combat has the following requirements: Str 13, rage class feature, Power Attack, base attack bonus +12. It isn't a combat feat; it's a general feat.

I feel like I'm missing something. Is there any way a character could get this feat at 12th? Fighter bonus feats have to be spent on combat feats, and everyone else gets feats on odd levels.

I'm not seeing a way to take this before 13th (but I might be missing something obvious).

Obvious thing you are missing is that BAB requirement comes into effect if you multiclass barbarian with class that has medium or low BAB progression - if for example you multiclass barbarian with oracle (because you aim to become raging prophet) you would have +12 BAB on later level than 12th.

Assuming you had a BAB +12 at 12th level, is there a way you'd have a feat slot you could spend to get this feat at 12th, or would you have to wait until 13th?

Basically, is it impossible to take raging brutality at 12th, no matter what class/multi-class you take?

You can level dip into fighter for a bonus feat at L12. I will look into Barbarian archetypes to see if any give bonus feats at 12 in a sec.

No archetype gives bonus feats at 12. You could ask your DM at L11 if you could take this feat, but not gain benefits from it until you hit L12.

Thanks, Mapleswitch. The fighter dip won't help -- the bonus feat has to be a combat feat, and raging brutality is an general feat.

Oops, sorry.

There are more non-combat feats that happen at levels you wouldn't have a feat to spend. Angel Wings for Aasimar requires Character Level 10 and it is not a combat feat. It is literally impossible to take it at level 10 so why didn't they just make it require lvl 11? Raging Brutality is similar; it requires +12 BAB, but you may need to hit +13 BAB before you take it. Or, you may not hit +12 BAB until lvl 13 if you dip a non-full-BAB class.

Retraining is the answer. Since you can retrain an old feat for a new feat that you didn't meet the prerequisites for earlier, you can use retraining to get Raging Brutality one level early. Whether that's worth it or not is up to you.
