Are these like the augment crystals of 3.5 Magic Item Compendium?
Truth be told, I don't know. I never owned the MIC and I looked at someone else's book once, copied the crystal down on my sheet and never looked at it again. But that was about 6 years ago now. I don't remember them well enough to say yes or no.
