Just wondering what people think would work best for a level 1 ranger that NEEDS darkvision and intends on going TWF.
My plans so far are goblin with 20 dex, finesse and infiltrator and skirmisher alternates. Undead as favored. What do you think?
also, as an afterthought, my dm doesnt like ultimate combat, so that limits things, try not to include any thoughts involving it if at all possible.

Go Str based. The big advantage of a TWF Ranger in contrast with a TWF Fighter is that you can avoid the Dex requirements of your combat style. Go Half-Orc with Infiltrator and Skirmisher, if you believe that your companion will be too loud consider the Guide archetype too, I suggest that you keep your wolf though. With max ranks in Stealth you will be strealthy enough. Half-Orcs also have proficiency in Orc Double Axe, a double weapon that is nice because you can TWF when you full-attack and THF with Power attack in standard action attacks, dealing good damage in both circumstances. Half-Orcs can start with +1 (+2 with the trait Fortune's Favored) to saves with the Sacred Tattoo alternative racial trait too.
Your stats at lvl 1 can be like this:
STR 18
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 12
WIS 12
CHA 7
Start with Power Attack as your 1st lvl feat. You don't have TWF yet, so you play like a standard THF until second lvl.

As a half-orc, you gain proficiency with the Orc Double Axe, a pretty excellent strength TWF weapon. (Note that Rangers don’t need insane dex to TWF, because their bonus feats bypass prereqs.) You can take some fantastic racial traits, too, such as +1 bonus to all saves.
As a dwarf, you get proficiency with the Dwarven Urgrosh, but your stat bonuses aren’t as good as a half-orc’s.
Asura-spawned or Qlippoth-spawned Tieflings have solid bonuses for a Finesse TWF ranger.
