Advice for Aasimar Eldritch Knight

Advice

I am thinking about making an Aasimar Eldritch Knight.

I was thinking Angel Blooded for the +2Str and +2Chr
I was thinking Sorcerer
Not sure if the martial should be barbarian or fighter,
If barbarian I was thinking Optimistic Gambler for one of the campaign traits
I was thinking a martial strength fighter.

However, I am open to advice in possible different directions

Any advice would be appreciated

I'd talk with your GM about optimistic gambler, there's no way I'd allow it in my campaign as you've at a min doubled your rounds of rage... if you could spend a feat for it, or even two you would probably gladly fork it over so for a trait it's op...

Yeah, I am building an optibuild. I like to share them and people can nerf them to fit their GMs liking or to play in PFS.

Sczarni

well that trait isn't legal in PFS either...

Sovereign Court

You could take a fighter because Eldritch Knight levels stack with fighter levels for fighter bonus feats.

I would even suggest a CAD for first level. You'll get some interesting class skills and you were never going to wear medium armor.

Even so, an Urban Barbarian might be good. So might the Freebooter Archetype of the Ranger.

Sovereign Court

Also, there is the Sword Saint Samurai Archetype.

If you don't mind giving up one point of BAB, there is the Sohei Monk Archetype which can be combined with the Master of Many Styles.

Dark Archive

The entire point of going as an aasimar eldritch knight is so that daylight qualifies as your third level SLA, allowing you to advance into the prestige class with only one level of wizard or sorcerer. Therefore, you need to take the core aasimar.

If you are building for PFS, doublecheck Additional Resources before you include something in your build.

this is not a PFS build

I'm not sure what your point is in some of your comments then lol.

Dark Archive

If it's not PFS, you still need to go core aasimar, but you have a bit more freedom in traits and abilities. If you're going angelkin, you're locking yourself into five levels of wizard or six levels of sorcerer.

Consider paladin + sorcerer. One level and you get smite evil, a powerful boost to attack rolls 1/day as well as the ability to ignore that foe's DR; two levels and you also get your charisma to saves. Consider also the Noble Scion (war) feat, which lets you use charisma for your initiative modifier.

this! the beauty of the (base) Aasimar EK is that you can enter the PrC at 2-3 level! based on the race's bonuses you're best bet for casting is Sorcerer (although the slightly slower base progression is accentuated by the lost caster levels)- i'm particularly fond of going Sohei 1, EK 1, wildblooded sorc [empyreal] 1, then 9 more levels of EK... then you get a lot of mileage from Wisdom; pally/base sorc is also very good (as mergy mentioned) but in a high Cha build the 2nd pally level is so good that you really have to way putting off EK carefully (the choice largely depends on anticipated level range- you'll miss 9th level spells that way, but low to mid-level its probably worth it).

Thanks, yes I now get that angelkin is not the way to go. Thanks Nate and Mergy for some suggestions on class leveling.

Lantzkev, someone asked me if I was making a PFS build. My point was that it is not a PFS build. Once I am done I will share the build and those who look at the build can modify the build for PFS play or for a particular GM (i.e. get rid of optimistic gambler and replace it with something else).
