Finally getting to play; questions.

GM Discussion

1/5

After running PFS for a bit, I'll have a chance to play at the con I'm going to next weekend. I have a few questions about it before I go, though.

I've run through 4 scenarios granting myself the GM credit (didn't really understand or get to it in the ones I ran before that). I haven't done my own chronicle sheets yet; once again, I didn't think of it at the time, is all.

Upon thinking, I feel my character would be more suited to serving Taldor than Cheliax. I haven't actually -played- my character yet; do I still need to spend the PP to switch factions?

Also, I'll likely be playing The Stolen Heir, which I've already run. So, beyond the obvious (no metagaming or spoiling the story) how do I handle this? When I ran, no one in the party qualified for the Taldor boon, do I still have access to it when I fill out my sheet; do I need to try for it when I play, et cetera..

Thanks in advance.

Depends on whether the games have been reported. If they have, and your character was reported as Cheliax, then you'll have to switch it, and yes, I believe that involves PP.

If you haven't already reported them, then just make sure you choose Taldor when you do.

You get full xp, gold, fame, and any boons you qualify for. The only thing you don't get is a day job roll. You do not need to take any of the "penalty" boons that may be listed on a sheet, either (you can if you want, but that would be a weird choice).

The gold amount you get is for whatever sub-tier your PC qualifies for, by the way. It does NOT get whatever sub-tier the scenario was played at. So, if your PC is 1st or 2nd level, it gets sub-tier 1-2 gold; if it is 3rd level it gets out-of-tier gold; if it is 4th or 5th level it gets sub-tier 4-5 gold.

Hope that makes sense.

Bear in mind that if the session where you GMed 'the Stolen Heir' has been reported against PC -1, then you can't play that scenario (for credit) with the same character, as no PC can have more than one of the same chronicle. You'd have to play it with a different PC, e.g. -2.

Make sure you inform the GM before the session starts that you've already GMed the scenario. To get the Taldor boon, your PC will need to perform the required actions during the session.

I don't believe he needs to pay the cost. If he hasn't played this character at all yet, then it would still be in the realm of the first-level rebuild, which allows you to switch factions at no cost.

This is what I have been told as well. Unplayed means GM blob and can be assigned any faction despite previous reporting. It'll just show up weird in your tally on your sessions page.

Remember that you can only get credit for a given scenario on a character once; so if you've given the credit for The Stolen Heir to your main character, you'll have to play an alt.

Hm. Is there not a rule that says you can't play PC-2 until PC-1 dies or otherwise retires?

Good lord, no. I have 8 active characters and 2 retired. You are encouraged to have a PC at every sub-tier so that you will always be able to play no matter the group or what is offered.

Specifically, you MUST have more than one PC or you will not be able to apply your GM credit if you have already played the scenario, and vice versa.

Not at all. I have 10 PFS PCs (ranging from 1st to 8th level) that have chronicles assigned to them: 7 that have seen actual play, and 3 more that have only received GM/pregen credit so far.

Local society people are still trying to get me to make my first character who will be starting at lvl 8. I have more fun GMing.

Hey on many of my sheets I didn't put in a gm faction. Is it possible to change that later?
