Converting d20 modern to Pathfinder

Conversions

So I am going to start a pet project to convert d20 modern so it synchronises with Pathfinder akin to The Modern Path (http://www.d20modernpf.com/) but using the generic class from before. I would be posting piece by piece and do let me know your comments :)

The Generic class was a set of 3 classes (warrior, expert and spellcaster) and at certain levels, they gain extra feats. So players either choose a talent (simialr to d20 modern) or choose an extra feat.

You guys think it's workable?

I think it is very workable. It just may take a while due to how much content there is. If you would like, I might be willing to help out from time to time.

Here is what I am planning to update :

(1) Talents: I am going to start with the talents from d20 modern so each attribute would have 3 talent tree. And the I'll move on to pathfinder equivalent. D20 already have some of it so I'll move to those from APG. Classes hoping to convert:

Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, Druid, Oracle, Rogue

(2) For gun rules, since d20 modern uses defenses ( i.e. you gain something akin to natural armor as you level up and you do not need to wear armor). Now Defense would make up part of the Touch AC so I guess to balance things up ( and not nerf guns so much) , I think when making attacks with guns, you lose the Defense bonus?

What do you guys think of the gun rules?

Would be posting up some talents ( starting with Smart as I go along)

I've been working on my own d20Modern/Pathfinder conversation so it's something I've thought about a lot.

My own opinion is if you want to use Pathfinder classes, i.e., wizard, then the only conversions necessary should relate to skill and proficiency conversions and giving them a Defense and Reputation bonus. New classes should be used to build concepts particular to contemporary and sci-fi settings.

If you are using Pathfinder's gun rules, I would NOT suggest eliminating Defense from AC versus gun attacks. Pathfinder assumes at higher levels you are going to have lots of magic items to boost your AC, including your Touch AC. The reason for the inherent Defense bonus in d20Modern is because even if you are using magic and magic items, you are less likely to be "Christmas-treed" out in magic items like you would be in a fantasy game, and you need that Defense bonus to survive versus comparable CR encounters. I would no more eliminate Defense from Touch AC than I would a deflection bonus.

If you think your version of the game WOULD use "Big Six/Christmas Tree" methods of equipment, what you might rethink is using the Defense bonus altogether, or reducing it.
