Undead Bane Weapon vs. Incorporeal Undead

Liberty's Edge

So, we had the situation that my pc fought with an undead bane weapon vs an incorpreal undead creature.
My DM told me, that the whole damage gets cut in half vs that creature. I argued, that the xtra 2d6 from the bane quality should get through completely.
I could'nt find any rule on this. Does anyone here know's what is correct?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Looks like your GM was right:

Bane:
"It also deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against such foes."

Incorporeal:
"Even when hit by spells or magic weapons, it takes only half damage from a corporeal source"

The wording is the same, Bane does dice of "damage" and incorporeal takes half "damage".

Side note: That also means that if you have a GhostTouch Bane weapon, then all the Bane damage would be applied (in other words, the GhostTouch ability would affect weapon damage and Bane damage, just like not having GhostTouch means all damage is halved).

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I've read that, too.
Well, at least it's more damage anyway.
Ok, thanx DM_Blake!
