guided hand gish viability

Advice

The Exchange

Hi! So I uh like to make gish characters, a lot, and have been looking at reach characters as a good implementation.

I've found the guided hand feat and am thinking that used with reach it could allow a character to both cast and contribute to melee efficiently.

The basic idea would be the same as for other reach clerics: take a position where your reach will threaten incoming enemies and cast, make your op attacks and acrobatics back to take another threat position and cast again.

Being able to focus on wisdom should allow the cleric to cast disabling spells effectively which is something I'd really like the character to do. Prioritizing wisdom also leaves you with a strong will save, never bad.

I figure that I will use domain abilities like demon/ferocity/destruction to make up for the loss of damage from strength.

The problem is that this takes up at least two feats and at least one domain slot, delaying and limiting resources you can spend on casting.

Does anyone have experience playing as or with a guided hand cleric? Can they contribute well? Any tips?

Thanks in advance!

If you are human, you can take channel smite and guided hand at first level. Getting both feats at first level, you can spend the rest on casting feats. Also, you could take power attack at 3rd level to get a scaling damage buff. Seems viable.
