Lawyers didn't intend for EA to stop making college football franchise
This is why we can't have nice things.

The amount of money each of the students are going to get from these lawsuits is going to be pathetic in comparison to the amount of value those that have scholarships earn from their education. Not to mention those that are successful enough to make it in the pros. I certainly think there should be changes to the system, the whole Johnny Football issue where NCAA went after him for getting paid for signatures but were selling sportswear with him on it on their own website just is demonstrative of the messed up system.
Anyway, here is South Park's take on the issue of student athletes, enjoy.

I might have sympathy for the NCAA if this was some time like 110 years ago and collegiate sports where something that was actually amateur, if coaching staffs didn't make millions of dollars, and if it wasn't a big business enterprise that raked in millions off of television deals and merchandise. Now it's a de facto cartel that exploits a virtual monopoly for anybody that seriously wants to go into professional men’s basketball or football, whether the players want to go to college or not, and that makes billions of a premise that's entirely a sham and everybody knows it. It ends up paying the group of people that are most instrumental in it's success nothing for what they do. Well ends up paying them nothing other than a scholarship whether the players actually wanted that or not, whether it actually cost the place of higher education that give it to them much at all, or if a players services in that sport are worth much more than said scholarship if he could have actually be paid as if the sport was a free market system.
That's just the stuff in the rules, and not all the shady things that institutions and their staffs do all the time that are against even their own rules.
Don't forget that if somebody gets hurt, because lets face it those sports aren't exactly safe for ones health, the place they played for isn't exactly going to be there for them the rest of their lives.
Given all that and more I can't really blame the players that take money on the side. If I was a big time player and I thought I could get away with it I would do so the way things are now. I'm even somebody that cares about the integrity of a sport, but you can't hurt what doesn't exist in the first place.
