Paladin Hellknight?

How would this work, if the devil you have to slay must have Hit Die greater than your own, and they're all d10? Paladin is also d10, so does that basically mean a Paladin/Hellknight is impossible?

It's number of hit dice, not the size. So if you are a5th level Paladin, you need to slay a 6+HD devil. So an Accuser Devil won't do with its 4 hit dice, but a Bearded devil will with it's 6 hit dice
