so, channel variants. first time caller , recent listener.

if my character channels negative energy, and has the weather portfolio
he can take the weather variant: harm, do convert half of the damage to either electricity or sonic damage.

so is that
channel 1d6. only deal 1/2 damage because its a variant, and then convert half of that to sonic or electricity? and it only effects living creatures.

or
channel 1d6, half of the damage is electricity or sonic, and half the damage is negative energy? and it only effects living creatures.


The first one, as I read it. Seems pretty lame.


Majority of the varient channeling options are rather 'blah' unless you can consistently expect to use them (most adventure paths have a theme, summoning outsiders, etc.)

yeah at first i was like, oh cool, cleric of besmara, my channel will basically be a thunderstrike!
and then i was like, no wait, it still only applies to living creatures, its still will save for half, but now its will save for 1/2 of 1/4 the damage =P

alternate channeling for fire doesn't even deal fire damage, it just might set undead on fire, or living people on fire. =P
