So, we have a character in our group that keeps summoning evil creatures accidentally. So what's the easiest way to get rid of them? Last time he summoned a contract devil by accident, and we where level 7. So not a fun time.
We're still alive, but I need an easy way to banish the evil critters. I'm a magus, and we have a bard and a summoner (it's a caster-centric campaign). Any tips on getting rid of those nasties?
A summoner, you say? Try dismissal. It's a 4th-level summoner spell, so it won't be available until he hits level 10, though.
Until then, protection from evil, maybe? Some context would help- how does he accidentally summon them?
It's a weird mechanic we have: we're in a magical school where we take "classes" in multiple subjects, and we roll a 1d100+X for a variety of effects. He keeps rolling low. It's a homebrew thing, yeah, but there should be official ways of destroying evil things.
We really need a cleric though, to get the protection.
Note: we also have a couple of succubi messing with us, and I have no effective way to damage them(beyond my silver katana).
A couple of succubi are probably less of an immediate problem. Lewd jokes aside, succubi aren't really combatants. They much prefer manipulation, and unless your DM is playing them unusually they shouldn't be a direct threat.
Good Will saves and player cynicism keep them from screwing with your head too much. The other big problem is energy drain, which is also relatively easy to save against, and even if you don't, restoration works well. So a cleric would be incredibly convenient, yes.
As for damaging them, you're a 7th-level caster. Their SR is 18. You should be getting through 45% of the time, and everyone else in your party is also a caster. Use electricity, or even better, summon spells, since those don't allow for SR.
Unfortunately not. As the magus, I'm the only prepared caster, and I cant get it. Sigh. The others are using their spells well, they just dont have many choices.
The succubi have been messing with us using profane gift, and using it to manipulate our summoner into being weirder than they already are...
Are there ways to limit the effects of the summoning? Like a circle to contain the summons?
Yes. You can use magic circle against X as a trap when you turn it inward. Normally it only works with planar binding, but talk to your DM to see if you can use it by itself.
As for the profane gift, I assume the threat is the charisma drain. Now, the important thing- the drain only happens if the succubus revokes it. If it's dispelled normally, nothing happens other than a loss of +2 to one stat and telepathic link.
Also, they have no defense against mind-affecting spells other than SR 18 and a high Will save. If you can't kill them, dominate them. Try mind fog or a couple of these, although they might be a bit expensive for you.
Remember, scrolls can be useful if you can't get access otherwise.
