Crafting Items Costs

Rules Questions

Looking at the rules it seems that a +1 sword is easy, as it is 1000 gp and it would require level 3 and the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat. Armor is just as easy, as the different options give costs and add to the effective plus,

Scrolls are easy as it is based on spell level and caster level.

Looking at the Wondrous Items it does not appear to have any pattern at all. Sometimes items with lower spell levels cost more than items that require a higher spell level.

I want to make a repeating crossbow magazine have the Abundant Ammunition spell on it. It is a level 1 spell so the minimum of CL 3 is likely sufficient. But I have no idea what it should cost.

You mean this?

Thanks, that does work.

Still, I would like to know how to calculate the cost for a Wondrous Item should I come up with one in the future (and not just make up a number).

The Magic Items section of the CRB includes guidelines on pricing custom magic items. These include copious tables along with some caveats.

Bear in mind that following the magic item creation table as written without taking extreme care can and will get you in a heap of trouble. The "nipple ring of continuous true strike" is a classic example.

It costs a +2 bonus, so it'd need a +3-equivalent weapon, at least. Use that as the base cost for the ability and ignore the base weapon's cost. A +3 weapon is 9,000 gp.

That's about what you'd pay for an equivalent wondrous item if you want to be able to move the magazine to different weapons.

Silver Crusade

A +3 weapon is 18,000 gp. Bonus squared x2000.

EDIT: 18000 is the base cost. It costs half that to craft it.

Thanks guys. That's why I post here, someone will give me good advice.
