So I'm trying to make this spell something other than a "kill target anything on touch". The issue, as many people have said before, is well... the spell sucks at everything.
I'm at the point though, where I think I can get my character's skin to survive the duration of the spell if I leave my body at home, but I'm not sure what happens when I reapply the "buff" (if you can even call it that).
Who do I target the buff on? The skin or the person?
Does it keep the current max HP of the construct, half of the constructs current hp as its new max hp, half of 0 hp (the hit points of my body), or something completely different?
Any thoughts would be appreciated, links to actual rulings would be even more appreciated.

Unless you wanted to work out a house rule with GM (which seems fine), it definitely implies that it cannot be applied if it's already in effect.
Aside from that, and more importantly, by RAW Skinsend would not work on you while in Skinsend form because Skinsend is a necromancy spell, which Skinsend gives immunity to (unless you house rule otherwise).
If you want to use it while traveling, I recommend seeing if the DM will allow it to have your body in a bag of holding (humans only take up 2.5 cu. ft.) without issues of suffocation. Otherwise you have a few options:
- If allowed, have it's head stick out of the bag (with a cloak over it or something :P) or have a breathing tube stick out of the bag
- acquire a potion of life bubble (use with alchemical allocation). If somehow life bubble isn't available, try aboleth's lung or water breathing in a BoH full of water)
- Acquire a bottle of air (which is oddly expensive. I'd personally beg for a lower price if possible, more around 2000–3000g range— am I crazy to think that?)
