Reading the rules on Between Games if I receive a Loot type it counts towards my card types. So I cannot exceed my card limit.
If I receive a reward or loot for a character of a type that it does not possess ,does this character :-
1. Keep it (it still counts against his hand size.
or
2. Add it to the pool for other characters who can hold this type of card to select.
I suspect its 2.

You get your reward for any scenario after you beat the scenario, but before the players rebuild their decks. So it goes in with all the other cards you have available to make your deck. If that means you have too many of the same card type, then you have to trade away or banish the extra cards, as always.

I get that this is annoying in single player, but it matches the 'flavour' of the character; that is that they have taken a vow of poverty.
In any case, in multiplayer you can hand that item off to another group member. The way I do it is to make a pile of cards that each person says 'I don't need, take what you will.' as they're rebuilding, and anyone can pull from those. If you remember that someone got a boon you want and it's not in that pile, you can ask but they don't have to give it to you.
Thanks!
