Howdy folks looking for advice.
I'm supposed to be running something for our local monthly game day.
Well I've sent my information to both our organizers and VC. Several times.
It's been almost a month and I have yet to have access to the module. Normally I like a couple of weeks so I can pre-draw all the maps and prep so the game runs smoothly. Now it's 2 days to go. So at best I'll be running it cold. Sadly work is busy so I don't have time during the week to prep.
So shall I just bite the bullet and purchase it myself? I mean $4 won't break the bank for me...granted this month all my medical bills, quarterly property taxes and insurance is due so money is tight :) Or try again?
What would you do?
I suppose I could bring a module I already own as a backup. Won't take as much time to re-read those. Though I'll have to familiarize myself with the new faction mission award rules.
Again, not the end of the world, just looking for some assistance and direction. :)
Cheers!

Are you running at home or at a store?
If it's at home, you really should be buying it, yourself. It's your event, you're the host, and you're the one running the show (regardless of not being a Venture Officer). You can always ask for $1 from each player to help recoup the cost. $1 for four or five hours of entertainment shouldn't be something for players to quibble about.
If it's at a store, ask the store owners if they'd be willing to buy the scenarios and keep them on file at the store for any GM to use. Considering that you will be bringing six or seven people into the store each game day who will buy dice, minis, maps and such, they should be willing. If they really get on board and start running weekly PFS games, it could grow to dozens of player each month, and that $4 expense per scenario twice per month becomes a pittance in the advertising pot.

I've coordinated a few events. From that perspective, to you as a GM: please be ready to run the scenario you are assigned to run. If you can't, let the coordinator know ASAP so they can find another GM. Please do not just show up with a different adventure prepped, instead.
The players might have already played that scenario, or they might have plans to play that other scenario with a different PC. Or they might really want to play the scenario that was advertised. They will have signed up and come to the event, only to walk away.

Had they agreed in advance to provide the scenario to you? Have you confirmed that they got your information? Do you have phone numbers?
I'd buy the scenario and get it prepped. The shared Google drive is a godsend for prepping quickly.
If a VC has promised to get you the scenario in advance and has let you down. I'd let Mike know and CC the VC. There's probably a very good reason why it hasn't happened, but it's worth letting people know that things aren't going to plan.

Okay looks like some background is needed. :)
The local gaming group holds a monthly game day at a public venue.
They were looking for more GMs. The event coordinator and the VC ask for volunteers to run.
When they found out I was buying adventures they said (emailed me) no, they will provide the modules for me. I'm not sure where the communications broke down. Unless I misunderstood and they will show up on the day of with the adventure?
I was figuring life had come up which is why the ball got dropped and was looking for suggestions to try to help out.
I'm already running home games (which I buy of course) and an AP(which I subscribe). I'll drop out of the game day if I need to make additional purchases mainly because I prefer to run story arcs (especially current ones) and the game day ones are not usually related and older. Last year (year 4) most of the adventures were seasons 1-3. I only got to play one year 4. Not to mention it's a hefty drive across town for me. Already posted on that topic, nuff said on that. :)

@Rerednaw:
Email a reminder to Chris, it probably just slipped off his mind due to the mess that coordinating the PFS games for the Comic Expo next weekend is turning into.
Unfortunately, while I am sure Chris is reliable, I have not had this issue, since I tend to get the scenarios as soon as they come available, so seldom wind up with the need to have anyone else provide them.
I will see you there, but I am running the other morning game, although my prep is easier, since I already have my Blackros Museum map drawn up. Probably need to get the thing laminated, though, given the wear-and-tear it suffers...
