Can you re-position an enemy with a reach weapon if they are not adjacent?
For example, if you have a long spear, can you use the weapon to re-position the enemy?
If so, you should be able to use a whip to do so correct?
I'm a maneuver master monk (Level 3), and I use a whip for tripping. I'm hoping that I can use re-position to pull a foe close to me (this will provoke an AoO I know), and then use Flurry of Maneuvers to trip them with the Ki Throw feat to move them into another threatened square, and then attack them unarmed.
Does this work? Why or why not?

Whip (and any other weapon with the trip ability) can be used for drag/reposition per SKR.
If you do a reposition with the whip, and pull them to you, if you have the Imp Reposition feat, you don't provoke.
If you don't have that feat, you only provoke if they have reach from the initial square. (i.e. a medium enemy holding a longsword 10 ft away from you wouldn't be able to hit you, since they couldn't reach you -before- you pull them closer, which is when AoO's are taken. A person with a reach weapon could, if you don't have the feat, because they can reach you from 10ft, when you make the attempt.)
If you have a whip, you can reposition them to you from up to 15 ft. only provoking if they threaten you from their starting square, and then trip them (if you use the whip it still provokes, even with Imp Trip, since you're making a ranged attack while adjacent to the target. Similar to passing the concentration check to cast while threatened, but still taking the AoO for firing a ranged touch spell like scorching ray). Then you can use Ki Throw, and if you have combat reflexes and greater trip/vicious stomp get 2 attacks on them.

No. My character would, because of how he's built, and because his whip is enchanted with the ISWG Dueling enchant, not the one in Ult. Equip. It gives a luck bonus of double the enhancement bonus on top to all combat maneuvers.
As a matter of fact, the best play for this is to Dirty trick to blind the enemy, then take my 5ft step and do all the fun stuff right next to him since blind means no AoOs.
